(Randy Savage, Daniel Bryan and Latest WWE News and Rumors from Ring Rust Radio) has been published on The Riot Army Randy ‘Macho Man’ Savage to Be Inducted Into WWE Hall of Fame In a move that is certainly long overdue, WWE announced on Raw that Randy “Macho Man” Savage is the first member of the WWE Hall of Fame’s class of 2015. Savage left an indelible mark on professional wrestling, and it can be argued that he was the biggest star yet to be enshrined by WWE. Question on Everybody’s Mind: How Monumental Is This Induction? After leaving WWE and making the leap to WCW in 1994, Savage’s relationship with WWE was seemingly strained. He never appeared in a WWE ring again, and he never will have that opportunity, as he tragically died in 2011. Fans have long called for Savage to be recognized for his incredible accomplishments and contributions to the business, though, and WWE is finally doing the right thing by placing him among the all-time greats. There is simply no denying the impact Savage had on WWE’s success. He was a two-time WWE champion and former Intercontinental champion. At WrestleMania III, he had what many believe to be the greatest match in the history of wrestling against Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. In addition to that, he got great matches out of Superstars such as Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior on the WrestleMania stage, which cemented his status as a big-time performer in clutch situations. Savage was truly the total package in terms of being an elite in-ring performer, great promo guy and larger-than-life character. Ring Rust Radio’s Take Although Savage himself never got to bury the hatchet with WWE, his induction into the Hall of Fame is symbolic of that. Savage’s name is the one that has come up most often when discussing Superstars who deserve to be in the Hall of Fame, and fans no longer have to wonder if it will ever happen. The one disappointing aspect of this, though, is the fact that Savage isn’t alive to see it. Over the past couple years, WWE has settled its differences with the likes of Bruno Sammartino and the Ultimate Warrior. They were both able to accept their inductions and give stirring speeches, which is something fans won’t get from Savage. In some ways, WWE is likely a bit regretful that it didn’t attempt to mend fences before it was too late. Even so, Savage’s induction will be a great celebration of his legacy. The Macho Man will never be forgotten by wrestling fans, and immortalizing him in the Hall of Fame ensures that. Rumor Mill Original plans for Macho Man announcement (PWInsider via WrestlingInc) Daniel Bryan Returns to In-Ring Action on SmackDown Just a couple of weeks after announcing his entry into the Royal Rumble match, Daniel Bryan had his first bout since undergoing neck surgery in May. He defeated Kane by disqualification to open SmackDown’s return to Thursdays before ultimately teaming with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose in a winning effort over Kane, Big Show and Seth Rollins in the main event. Question on Everybody’s Mind: Was WWE Wise to Have Bryan Return on SmackDown? Many have questioned if Bryan is 100 percent healthy, but he seemed to alleviate those concerns on Raw. Bryan attacked Kane and didn’t hold back in the least. He even dove through the ropes and to the floor, which suggests that all systems are go. Bryan threw caution to the wind on SmackDown as well, so he should be able to give everything he has in the Royal Rumble and during the lead up to WrestleMania XXXI. As great as it was to see Bryan back in action, it is fair to wonder if WWE has handled his return properly. Many fans would have liked for Bryan to have been a surprise entrant in the Rumble match. It undoubtedly would have led to a massive pop and would have been a great moment, but WWE obviously felt the need to advertise Bryan in order to drive interest and WWE Network subscriptions. WWE also decided to take away the distinction of the Royal Rumble hosting being Bryan’s first match back, which could potentially take away from the luster of Bryan being in the event’s eponymous bout. Ring Rust Radio’s Take While it is understandable that some may have preferred for Bryan to have been held out of action until the Rumble, WWE’s decision makes a lot of sense. With SmackDown moving to Thursdays, it needed a major hook to drive viewership. Bryan is perhaps the most popular Superstar in WWE right now, and there was a lot of intrigue surrounding his return. If WWE wants to give off the impression that SmackDown will no longer be the “B” show now it is on Thursdays, then putting Bryan in that spot was a big statement. In addition, it is probably good for Bryan from a physical standpoint to get some work in before the Royal Rumble. He could very well be asked to last a long time in that match because of his stamina and workhorse status. Bryan was able to knock off some ring rust on SmackDown, and he will do that once again next week in another match with Kane. Because of that, he figures to be much better prepared to put on a spectacular Rumble performance. Rumor Mill Backstage talk on Bryan’s Rumble chances (Reddit via WrestlingInc) RRR Interview with ROH’s Kazarian Tag team wrestling is hotter than ever in Ring of Honor, and the presence of the Addiction is a big reason for that. Kazarian and Christopher Daniels made the leap from TNA to ROH in 2014, and they have been instant hits with the fans. Kazarian recently stopped by Ring Rust Radio to discuss the transition to ROH and his future in wrestling. Question on Everybody’s Mind: What’s Next for Kazarian? As Bad Influence, Kazarian and Daniels were arguably the best part of TNA programming. When the company decided to go in a different direction, though, they became the hottest free agents in professional wrestling. Since Daniels worked extensively with ROH in the past, it was a natural fit for both guys. Kazarian had very limited experience in the ROH promotion, but he had no concerns about going there. A big reason for that is the fact that tag team wrestling is such a high priority. Since the Addiction joined ROH, they have locked horns with many of the world’s best duos including reDRagon, the Young Bucks and the Briscoes. Kazarian and Daniels are the veterans of the bunch, but they can still go step for step with anyone. There is a lot pressure on ROH talent to be dynamic and fast-paced, but that hasn’t been an issue for 37-year-old Kaz. Ring Rust Radio’s Take Kazarian has been heavily focused on tag team wrestling in recent years, but he is no stranger to singles success, either; he is a five-time TNA X-Division champion and a former PWG champion. While Kazarian didn’t totally shoot down the idea of a singles run in ROH at some point, he made it clear that he is committed to the Addiction. He and Daniels have put a ton of time and effort into building that brand, and Kaz fully intends to stick with it. As things stand, it can be argued that the tag division is the best thing going in ROH and wrestling as a whole. With that in mind, it’s easy to see why Kazarian is pleased with his current spot. There is plenty left for Kaz and Daniels to accomplish as a unit, including winning the ROH Tag Team Championships. Based on their entertainment value in the ring and on the mic, it is tough to envision the Addiction falling short of that goal. Ring Rust Radio’s Season 7 Fantasy WWE Standings 1.
