Rang Rasiya, the celluloid depiction of painter Raja Ravi Verma, - TopicsExpress

Rang Rasiya, the celluloid depiction of painter Raja Ravi Verma, is worth your time spent watching it. It is not perfect (but then how many things in life are?!). If nothing, the movie opens up a conversation and the desire to perhaps know more about the artist (may even prompt you to pick up his bio and read ☺). Raja Ravi Verma is perhaps one of India’s most widely circulated and available to the common-man artists. Just take a check, you may be having one such art-work by him too ( in the form of a print/oleograph), in your own home, unknown to you! ( Ravi Verma illustrated numerous mythological characters from Indian epics, including popular Gods and Goddeses, like Lakshmi and Saraswati). The amazing part is, even though #RangRasiya is about the life, times, inspirations of the celebrated 19th century artist, the movie remains extremely relevant in today’s times too. Randeep Hooda, yes, ‘Rang Rasiya’ belongs to you. And, Nandana Dev Sen, you are one hell-of-a-spunky-artiste to have essayed the role of ‘Sugandha’, Ravi Verma’s beautiful muse. The movie ‘Rang Rasiya’ is colorful, aesthetic, erotic and a revelation. So glad director Ketan Mehta has finally been able to release ‘Rang Rasiya’ in India, post almost 7 years after its production! youtube/watch?v=yg6TJhBYxfI
