Rangers Kenny Miller laments how easy it is to score against them after thrashing by Hibernian Veteran striker says he is tired of saying week in, week out that defensive mistakes are costing his team after third defeat by Hibs of the year Same old story: Kenny McDowalls Rangers are pretty easy to score against says Kenny Miller Photo: PA Roddy Forsyth By Roddy Forsyth, Scottish Football Correspondent, at Easter Road7:06PM GMT 27 Dec 2014CommentsComment As Rangers’ hopes of automatic promotion to the Scottish Premiership were wrecked by a 4-0 thrashing by Hibernian, their veteran striker, Kenny Miller, admitted that it has become “pretty easy” to score against the stuttering Ibrox team. Rangers have now lost all four league meetings with the two Edinburgh sides – two apiece to Hearts and Hibs. Rangers have also now lost four consecutive away games – to Alloa in the Petrofac Training Challenge Cup and to Hearts, Queen of the South and Hibs in the Scottish Championship. “The manner in which we lose our goals makes it look pretty easy against us,” said the 35-year-old Miller. “I can’t recall every goal today but when we look back on it this week I’m sure there will be at least two or three situations leading into each goal that we probably should have dealt with better. “I’ve sat here a few times after poor results and performances and it’s getting a bit tiring to keep saying the same thing - that it’s not good enough. It’s unacceptable. We were all fit. “Fair play to Hibs, I thought they were outstanding again. That’s three times we’ve played them this year and they’ve really got our number at the moment. With the way they play we really found it hard to get to them in the first half. “Obviously it’s been another tough week. When you lose your manager it throws things into turmoil but Kenny [McDowall] has taken over and tried to keep it as normal as possible. “We were prepared but it was just another one of these days when we just weren’t good enough - collectively and individually. For us it’s just about finding a way to start performing better and win games. “I don’t think we can look much further than next week. Again, I’m getting a bit tired of saying that but we can’t take anything more than a game at time just now. “Yeah, we want to be playing better football and scoring goals. Of course, the long term aim is that we get promoted but just now it’s important for us to find a way to start winning games again. “I wouldn’t say we were tentative, we just really found it hard to get at Hibs in the first half because of the way they played. In start of the second half we did better without creating anything of any substance. “We looked like we were trying to get a bit more possession and getting back into the game but the third goal was a killer blow but that first half killed us. When you go 2-0 down after the first 12 minutes it’s always going to be an uphill struggle. “Listen, the team has a severe lack of confidence at the moment. We’re lacking a bit of belief in ourselves and our team-mates. It’s as simple as that. “You only need to look at the way we have performed over the last few weeks. Even when we have been winning games it’s not been a level of performance we’ve been used to at this club.” telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/rangers/11314836/Rangers-Kenny-Miller-laments-how-easy-it-is-to-score-against-them-after-thrashing-by-Hibernian.html
