Rangers in Italy RANGERS Football Club are delighted to announce details of a new link with St George’s International School in Rome, Italy as part of their highly successful Soccer Schools programme. Over the past seven years, Rangers overseas camps have gone from strength to strength, with Soccer School activities confirmed in America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Trinidad & Tobago and Azerbaijan. Now young footballers and staff from St George’s will have lots to look forward to as Rangers Soccer Schools will deliver training camps and coach education clinics at the school. This will hopefully be the starting point of a relationship, which will see local players and coaches alike benefit from the knowledge of Rangers Soccer Schools professional coaches. Rangers Football Club has achieved a record 116 trophies and 55 league titles in its 140 year life placing the Club as one of the biggest and most famous in world soccer. The Club is renowned for high quality standards in all aspects of its business and none more so than the development of professional players at the Club’s multi million pound training complex Murray Park. Moreover, Rangers Soccer Schools has identified more than 50 players for the youth academy in the last 4 years which reflects the quality of the coaching staff used for events like overseas camps and team tours. As part of Rangers long-term commitment to St George’s, the camps will also include a series of coaches’ clinics where Rangers staff will provide a unique insight into the coaching philosophy and methods used within the Club’s youth programme. The aim is to educate both players and coaches to ensure that when the camp ends, there is some legacy left behind that will continue to develop every young player after the coaches have flown back to Scotland. Greg Statt, Rangers Soccer Schools Overseas Development Officer, commented: This is our first affiliation with an International school but with the enthusiasm shown by Elliot Manson their PE teacher, Director of Football and indeed a former youth player at Rangers there is definitely a huge appetite for the club and football in general. We are absolutely delighted to add Italy to our growing list of countries hosting Rangers Soccer Schools and look forward to developing this relationship over the coming years. Elliot Manson, Director of Football and PE teacher at St George’s British International School, commented: With St George’s being a British International School football is a major part of our PE and extra curricular programme so it’s fantastic to be linked with a British club the size and stature of Rangers. There is already a buzz of excitement around the school at the development opportunities for pupils and staff alike. We can’t wait to get started!
