Rant Alert! Arrghhhh Black Friday is an America tradition....In the UK we do not shop on the Friday immediately after Thanksgiving because people here dont celebrate it. In the UK we shop EVERY day right up to Christmas Eve because if you believe the retail hype we will be bad people if we dont spend £XXX amount on gifts for our families so off we go out and get ourselves into even greater debt than we already are making sure everyone has something they really didnt need or could have bought them selves. Black Friday has been adopted by so many companies here in the UK and some of the offers are offers they have had on for the last 10 years or so eg Argos (£5 and £10 gift voucher) Holland & Barrett, (buy one get the second for a penny) Groupon (always have deals on) and Matalan (promoting the voucher I received through the door as a silver card holder as the Black Friday offer) and to make matters worst the one company making serious cuts on electrical goods i.e. Asda, have cause mass hysteria and fights, one woman being treated for a Black Eye never mind Black Friday. Do not be fooled by the hype. Black Friday is an America tradition, its the day Americas start their Christmas shopping after a nice Thanksgiving holiday which they spend with their families, its called Black Friday because its the day the shops in the USA make the most money (similar to our Boxing Day sales) (my other pet hate grrrr) selling for Christmas.....we DONT have Black Friday in the UK!!
