Rant Alert! So Ive been helping Heather sort out some problems with her headphones. Back in June she bought herself a pair of Beats Studio wireless headphones at Best Buy and understanding shes a bit tough on that kind of device she bought the 2 year no fault warranty. Good decision. Dropped em once and they cracked...replaced. Wore them in the rain once and they shorted out....replaced. Problem is, every time she gets them replaced at Best Buy they pop her for $50 deductible. So...when they stopped pairing up with her Galaxy S4 we decided to try warranty service through Dre. I called, got a return authorization, was told they didnt have any Titianium (silver) ones in stock to replace them with so Heather said she would accept a pair of blue ones. Sent them off and got back an e-mail saying they had inspected the product, found it to be defective, and would send replacements. Fast forward 10 days...the replacement arrived. Not new Blue ones, but Titanium. And they dont work. Dont pair with her phone, dont pair with my phone. They do pair with my iPod but only the right side works. Called Dre today and discussed the issue with them. First guy I spoke with says I need the date of original purchase. I says you told me you have all that information there on your screen. I dont have the receipt in front of me but you must have it since we went through this last month. He says I cant do anything unless you can provide the date of original purchase. Me being me, I made a stupid remark about tossing them away and buying Bose before hanging up. Found the receipt, called back and got a different guy. Went through the same details and he says Oh yeah. You got the same ones back. While yours were in transit to us we changed our policy. We no longer replace them, we repair them. Send them back and well repair them for you. I says Why not just send out a new pair. We apparently tried the repair and it didnt work. He says Im sorry, that is our new policy. Too many people were returning theirs so we started repairing them. There lies the rub. ....too many people were returning them. I have to admit, when these things work right they are amazing. I even considered buying a pair myself. ($379.99 at Best Buy) But after this fiasco, and hearing that too many people are having troubles with them, I think Im going to stick with Bose. Heather and I will head over to Best Buy this afternoon and pony up $50 to save me the frustration of dealing with Beats by Dre support. That is all
