Rant: I was talking with a friend of mine on the phone tonight, and she mentioned her boss getting really judgemental of her for letting her kids watch Harry Potter, because it has to do with witches. Alright... Hold up.... If this is what you believe as a Christian, youre doing it wrong. Does it involve magic? Yes. How much does it teach about the Wiccan religion, its processes, rituals, etc? NONE YOU FOOL! If you had actually taken the time to read the books (or watch the movies since reading is obviously beyond your comprehension level), yes, you will find that it is set in a magical fantasy world. The story itself is about overcoming adversity, the value of having true friends, and having a sense of self confidence, while retaining a sense of humility. Hmmmm.. Those are things we should already be teaching our children isnt it? What it does it instill good qualities in our children, but set in a fantasy world to gain their intention. No, theyre not sitting in a circle, holding hands, and singing Kum Ba Ya, but theyre not meeting at midnight, casting actual spells (for the uninformed, wingardium leviosa is not actually muttered by those of the Wiccan faith), burning sage, opening circles, etc. When Christians do things like this, I shake my head. You are not showing how devote you are to God. You are showing how weak you are in your own faith, and how weak of a person you really are. Truth be told, I have seen those who follow the Wiccan faith follow similar Christian philosophies better than many Christians themselves. Listen to the metal band Slayer, then learn that the lead singer is a devout Roman Catholic, then prepare to pick up the pieces of your small brain after connecting the two bits of information blows your mind to shreds. Then listen to Metallicas Creeping Death, and discover that the song is really telling the story of Passover. Instead of sitting there and using your mouth that is too big for your brain to scream, THIS IS INDOCTRINATION OF THE YOUTH TO WORSHIP THE DEVIL, educate yourself about the Wiccan religion, realize that the story itself is really a positive influence on young impressionable minds, and quit being spiritually weak.
