Rant... Our Community Shooting down every option.. What in our awesome little communitys minds is an OK product for the port to do business with? Everyone was so understanding when finding out they had to lay off 16 of their employees. The reason for the layoffs was because our community threw fits like little 2 year old children over every single thing they tried to bring into the port for business. It was oh the environment,oh its going to blow up oh this or oh that.. With out business they have no money.. Simple really. Why hasnt anyone thrown a fit over the coal Rock ten uses every single day?? Or what about all the explosive chemicals that Rayonier uses again every single day. No one threw fits over that.. So why shoot down the port for trying to make their business more profitable in the same manner as those two that are being allowed to do the same thing. I just dont understand this community anymore. We were built on our Industry NOT selling t-shirts!! Not everyone can make a living off of selling t-shirts or serving food. Tourism is awesome and yes a great deal to our community. I get that but, What about the rest of the people who dont work at the shops downtown? What are they to do? So my question remains.. What Cargo exactly is acceptable to our community for the Port to pursue?
