Rant/Request of the day: Please join me in pledging never to fly Southwest Airlines again! Read the ordeal my sister endured at Newark Airport this morning and the subsequent treatment of both my sister and my mother when they attempted to ascertain why her seat was given away more than 10 minutes before takeoff. Representatives at both EWR and the 800 number were not only unprofessional, they were downright rude. Her post is attached. This is not an isolated incident. Southwests Facebook page is inundated with horror stories like this and far worse. Autumn London SOOOO DISGUSTED!!! Customer service reps at Newark International and on the phone were so rude today! I checked in 24 hours ahead of my flight (which is recommended by the airline) then checked my bags in at the airport 3 hours ahead of my flight and got bumped because I was in the bathroom! The supervisor at Newark was completely and utterly RUDE. Amirah I believe was her name, tried to challenge me and threaten that I didnt check in on time but when she actually did her job she saw I was already checked in for hours. I got to my gate after using the restroom at 1:04 and they had me standing there for 10 minutes just to tell me there wasnt any room for me on my own flight! Announcements were not made nor broadcasted. Now after spending 8 hours in a cruddy airport will I have to return to make a 6am flight since they overbooked every connecting flight to LA!
