Rant Warning: I need to put in a huge plug for Blue Mountains Police Rescue and my good mate Dal Atkinson. Last night these guys stepped up (with Ambulance Service of NSW SCAT paramedics) and rescued two rock climbers from one of the biggest cliffs in the Blue Mountains. They walked in to the top of this cliff in the dark, set up twin ropes over a previously unseen cliff, and abseiled down 80m to aid and extract the two climbers. To those of us who spend much time on rope on big things or climb in places like the Grose Valley often this may just sound like another day on the tools however, it is not long ago that the only option for these climbers would have been to wait for dawn and a helicopter based rescue. How lucky are we, living in the Blue Mountains and choosing the adventures we undertake, that we have professionals like you on standby. I write these thoughts because I know you rarely discuss work publicly and youre not in it for the praise but I also know how regularly you just go out and get the job done. Huge thanks to you and your families. The Blue Mountains community is in very competent and understanding hands. Richard Delaney
