Rant part 2 - yes the Synthwave scene borrows from a bygone era. Were not being original in the sense that were using old sounds - but we are being original in our application of the sounds, and the way we re-package the 80s. With modern mainstream acts now borrowing from our scene, I would like to see the scene get some credit - rather than acts like Taylor Swift claiming she was influenced by the 80s, she should just be honest and say she was influenced by Synthwave. Yes, indirectly shes influenced by the 80s, but she hasnt gone to the source material in my opinion. Taylor Swift is the equivalent of a kid making a cop film based on cop films. As Jeff Goldblum says in Jurassic Park - you didnt acquire the knowledge for yourself, you stood on the shoulder of geniuses...
