Rant to follow: Just saw a news report about some NFL player getting a two game suspension for knocking out his gf. The rest of the report was about how she may have provoked him and how she married him after this attack. Seriously?!?! Yes, there is a need for personal responsibility on her part but let me enlighten on what it is like to be in an abusive relationship. These animals dont start out as lunatics. They are Prince Charming. They are the greatest man youve ever met. They say all of the right things. They do all of the right things. They study their prey with amazing skill and patience. They push to see what the limits are then turn the charm back on and convince their victim that all of the bad was either imagined, blown out of proportion or deserved somehow. They slowly and methodically groom their victim. Abuse victims are not mindless idiots who are just desperate for a man/woman. They are the empaths of the world. The people who love deeply and put themselves after everyone else. HOWEVER. Once a victim wakes up(if they survive) they are a force to be reckoned with. They will do as I am doing now. They will rise up when they see abuse and call it exactly what it is. There is NO excuse for abuse. So. If you are an abuser, stop it! Get help or do the world a favor and stay away from everyone and everything until you can control yourself. If you are being abused, get away safely and get help. It will NOT get better. You cannot love it out of them. And if you are aware of an abusive situation, report it. Drag it out into the daylight. Yes, you may be hated for it but you also may save a life. Abuse takes many forms. None of them are acceptable. None of them are warranted. None of them should be tolerated Rant concluded.
