Rape suspect surrenders BAKER-ZACHARY BUREAU - PUBLISHED: JUL 18, 2013, 1:09 PM UPDATED: JUL 18, 2013, 1:09 PM CLINTON — A man wanted by East Feliciana Parish sheriff’s deputies in the reported rape of a pre-teen girl surrendered to Clinton police Tuesday night, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman said Wednesday. Deputies booked Clovis Matthews Jr., 33, of Ethel, at the East Feliciana Parish Jail on one count of aggravated rape, Detective Don McKey said. Deputies had been looking for Matthews since early May, when he was accused of raping a 12-year-old girl at a residence in the Slaughter area, McKey said. Clinton police also booked Matthews on unrelated counts of theft of a firearm, unauthorized use of a moveable and misdemeanor theft of a pair of work boots, Assistant Police Chief Ned Davis said.
