Raphael Varane pre-match press conference: Raphael Varane appeared before the press at Juventus Stadium, where tomorrow Real Madrid will go up against the home side in the fourth match of Champions League Group B. The defender spoke of the match against the winner of the last two editions of the Italian league: “The need to win and theyre going to hit us with a fast pace and a lot of guts. We have to match the intensity that theyre going to bring to the match. Tomorrow we only need one point to qualify (if Galatasaray scores against Copenhagen) but we want to win because were looking to be group leaders”. Asked which teammate hes most comfortable playing with in defence, Varane praised Pepe and Sergio Ramos: “Im comfortable playing with Ramos and Pepe. Theyre different, but equally good. I dont worry about knowing who Im playing with. Im comfortable playing with both of them”. With regards to the goals that the team has conceded in the last few matches he stated: “We can improve defensively and for me its something that we have to improve together. It isnt just an issue for the defenders, but for the whole team. If we all make a coordinated effort, well improve”. Lastly, when asked about Zidanes role and what he contributes to the team, he said: “He speaks to us individually. He gives advice and offers his experience. He contributes a lot of calm to the group as well as all his experience”.
