Raphaelson Levine receives $1.25 mil verdict for Brooklyn mother and daughter with disc bulges Raphaelson Levine represented a mother and daughter at trial who were injured in a motor vehicle accident in 2009. Our clients each sustained bulging discs in their neck and back for which they received physical therapy. The Defendant, one of the major car insurance companies, argued that the injuries were not caused as a result of this accident. They argued that there was no damage to our clients’ vehicle and that the mother had previously been involved in four prior accidents in which she had already injured her neck and back. As such, at no time did the insurance company ever make any settlement offers in the case. They viewed the case as a “no pay”. Despite these arguments, we were able to prove at trial that the injuries were in fact related to this motor vehicle accident, and that the injuries were permanent and were going to cause our clients to suffer for the rest of their life. The jury agreed with us and after a trial in the matter, awarded the mother $450,000 ($200,000 past pain and suffering and $250,000 future pain and suffering) and the daughter $800,000 ($200,000 past pain and suffering and $600,000 future pain and suffering).
