Rapp Sheet - Friday, April 11, 2014 On Sunday we will conclude our sermon series the Hole in Our Gospel. This has been a challenging series for us here at Sterling. I’ve heard from so many of you. The vast majority of the comments I’ve received have noted the stretching experience that they’ve had as they sought to understand the “Whole” Gospel and God’s expectation that His people “act justly, love mercy and walk humbly” with Him (Micah 6:8). We have wrestled with the scope of the problem of poverty and disease and injustice in the world. We have had to broaden our perspective to realize that in many ways we are insulated and isolated from much of the suffering in the world. Because we live surrounded by such affluence it is hard for us to conceive of the extreme conditions that millions and millions of people face on a daily basis. As we have come to grips with these realities the question immediately presents itself, “How can we make a difference? In a world that seems so messed up, how can our lives, how can our church make any significant difference?” On Sunday as we conclude this series, once again we will face the clarion call of Jesus to love God, love people and serve the world. Challenging? No doubt. Demanding? Without question. But the road to becoming a fully devoted follower of Jesus is never traveled by the timid or the weak. It is traveled by those who take up their cross and follow… See you Sunday! Pastor Randy
