Rappahannock Electric Cooperative has canceled its Project Big Heart golf tournament at Mattaponi Springs Golf Course tomorrow because of impending bad weather. The golf tourney, which is an annual fund-raising event for the charitable arm of REC, has been rescheduled for June 28. Tropical Storm Andrea, the first named storm of the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season, formed in the Gulf of Mexico last night. The center of the storm is spinning northeast toward northern Florida and will move inland today. Parts of Florida already are experiencing heavy rain, isolated tornadoes, and gusty winds. In Caroline, there is an 80 percent chance of rain later today, and an 80 percent chance of rain tomorrow. Tropical Storm Andrea will get pulled northward ahead of a frontal system moving through the Eastern states tomorrow into early Saturday, producing rain along the East Coast. It is forecast to transition to a non-tropical low-pressure system.
