Rappers Delight was released 35 years ago on September 16,1979...wowwww! I remember it like it was yesterday. I was 11. I, along with whole neighborhood (Marble Hill) walked around reciting the lyrics. The smooth brothers wanted to be Master Gee. The fat ones, Big Bank Hank, and everyone else in between, Wonder Mike. I wrote all the words down in the back of my notebook so that we could rap during lunchtime. Needless to say, if I was infatuated with hip-hop before that, I was deeply in love with it that day. Culturally, it crosses racial lines, different generations. Dont believe me?
