Lennon was known to say in the year of Revolver and Rubber Soul : I am good at the craft of songwriting now, I can slog one off fairly easily if I am required to. He was referring to fulfilling his recording contract. He spontaneously changed the song name to Hey Bulldog from Hey Bullfrog after Paul McCartney began barking for fun during the 1st take.
