Rarely do I complain about another persons work but I gotta. LIVE mixers. STOP COMPRESSING YOUR MIX BUSS WITHIN AN INCH OF ITS LIFE! Youre ruining the live experience. Just because digital mixers have loudness plugins, it doesnt mean to should make the gig sound like an fm transmission. I went to Pat Metheny tonight. The only time I heard any dynamic was when the crowd was applauding. Traveled 400km and paid $110 to listen to a total shit box mix. The other time I experienced hyper compression live was Seal. Is it possible that the advent of digital mixers has in some ways created a live sound previously realistically not possible but in doing so, some in the industry havent yet worked out the difference between a live mix and a studio one? Im reaaaally curious for your opinion on this one folks. :)
