Rarely do I do stuff like this on here but today is my best friend/roommate and cowriter Jeffrey Shropshires birthday. Back in 2000 when I was a freshmen I saw this blonde haired senior roaming the school hallways and constantly thought That dude seems awesome. It wasnt until 3 years later that wed speak through emails. He had thrown the first local show I ever attended in Harry Kats basement and I sent him an email telling him that Id love to help out with his next one. Instead of ignoring my email he actually asked me to not only help with his next show but asked me if Id like to co-run his record company he was trying to start. Despite throwing a few shows, running two different record companies and hanging out from time to time we never actually hung out and talked to each other until I was in college. Our friendship was based on going to Tom Jones and discussing music and trying to predict how Harry Potter would end. Together we discovered some great local bands, great TV shows and lived together on and off multiple times. I cant imagine that Id be anywhere close to where I am in my life without his involvement. Hes made me a better writer, showed me the ropes of how to throw a show leading to the creation of Chords for Cures and co-hosted my first few podcasts that eventually lead to The Saint Mort Show. Happy Birthday to my best friend. (Part 2 coming on Friday for Ed Gusler… will have to write a belated one for Graham tomorrow)
