Rarely do I ever post a complaint or gripe on here. Its not who I am and not what I use FB for. But, I need to address this issue. I have 600 friends on here and recently sent out an invite to promote my band, Ideamen, and our pre-CD release campaign. We were trying to get people to essentially buy something to support/fund the production of merchandise. Were not asking for your money directly. Were asking for your support. In turn, you receive either music or merchandise or both and hopefully get turned on to what the band is doing. I recently viewed the list of purchases to see who was buying and from where. I was shocked at how many of the 600 actually was on there. All I can say is that considering how much time people spend on FB, they should have been able to at least check out the campaign by clicking going on the invite. Its not a concert/event to attend...its a simple invite to view our page and see what were doing. What is most disheartening is the lack of support from my closer friends/musicians. Theres a lot of people on this list that I may not even personally know and Im not expecting much from them. But, people that Ive known all of my life? And still communicate with to this day? I understand that money can be tight and once again, wasnt expecting hundreds of people to spend hundreds of dollars. But, buying a CD at $12 isnt much to contribute. Especially since were giving extras on top of every purchase. Hopefully, someone will read this and recognize the sincerity of this letter. The passion that I have for music and what I do and the band I do it with has been a lifelong work in progress. These guys are like blood brothers to me. This isnt just a cover band getting drunk and making a few bucks on the weekend. This is more. Please do not take offense if your name is removed from my friends list in the near future. Its not about quantity of lives, its about quality of lives.
