Rathcline Club Notes Our first league game took place against Legan, in Clonbonny on Saturday evening. The team got a deserved win on a score line of 1- 17 to 6 pts. The first half was a tight affair, with scoring at a minimum, both teams had chances but didn’t take them. The half time score was 5 pts to 2 in favour of Rathcline. The team settled into a better rhythm in the second half and dictated the pace of the game. With good runs coming from defence and midfield, Rathcline found space and took several scores very well. Colin Fayne scored the only goal of the game half way through the second half. It was a decent team performance and can be built on in both this league and the reserve league. Legan will no doubt improve, but Rathcline will take heart from a strong 2nd half performance. Training continues midweek. Thanks to all who had the pitch looking immaculate and to everyone who helped out on the day. A reminder to everyone, that the Croagh Patrick climb is taking place very soon. Anyone whom is interested should contact a member of the executive for details. A worthwhile trip for body and soul, it’s a great fundraiser for the club, and after the climb there is a great social occasion to enjoy also! The weekly lotto results were 2, 3, 20, 22, 29, and 39, there was no outright winner. The jackpot next week is €1,000. Weekly winners were Martin McNally, Shannon Gaels Minor Club, Gary Gallagher, and Lara & Vera O Sullivan. Rathcline Ladies The senior ladies were defeated by Edgeworthstown in the first round of the senior league on Sunday. The team was down to the bare minimum in numbers, due to illness and injuries. Fair play to all the ladies, who took part. Senior training continues on Wednesday. Training for U 14s and U 16s continues on Sunday morning, it’s vital that all players who want to be part of these squads come to train. The club has a wonderful under age set up, so please attend if you want your child playing GAA this year. Hard luck to our minor team who were defeated by Slashers in the 2nd round of the league. It was a great display by our lads, and keep the heads up for the next round of the league. The U 16’s are out in the first round of their league this weekend. Please check paper for time and venue. The Parish Hall was alive at the weekend with the sounds of music, laughter and the spoken word, as the Minor Club gear up for a talent extravaganza, which takes place on the 12th of April. Rehearsals are in full swing, and the talent on show was mind boggling. This promises to be a class night, a night where everyone should make an effort to attend, as it will showcase what’s best about our parish from young and old!
