Rather an interesting week: this week we have seen a ton of coverage wherein Ashton Kutcher was extolling the values of hard work to young people. Also, U2 (my favorite band, by the way!) singer Bono was covered as extolling the virtues of capitalism. I have seen a ton of reporting on both of these soundbites throughout the week - which is a good thing. They are both right on the money with their remarks. But what marvels me is this: How far have we fallen as a nation and as a culture when a couple of celebrities do something as simple and common sense as extol the value of hard work, and point out the success of capitalism that it makes news? Are we seriously that devoid of the very principles that have made our country great that it gets reported on the news when these principles are espoused and spoken publicly? Kinda makes one think...
