Ray Comfort-- I read recently where someone said that Hell is a “hideous” doctrine, and that if God was love He would never create such a place. Then let’s follow that logic and as loving human beings do away with prisons, because they are hideous places. However, that would be a hard sell with those who have had daughters who have been raped and murdered, or with those who have been embezzled of their life’s savings. Such people call for justice, not love. A judge may be a loving person, but he (or she) sits in court not to exhibit love but to see that justice is done. Thats why depictions of justice often show statues as being blindfolded. For a Christian to say that there is no such place as Hell is to be a Judas to the cause of Christ. It is to pat the blind man on the back as he taps his way towards a thousand foot cliff. It is love that drives us to warn every blind sinner that if they refuse to turn around in repentance, they will fall into the hands of the Living God, and the Bible says that is a “fearful thing.”
