Ray Koob here. Yesterday was a major double anniversary in Led Zeppelins universe. Same date, 2 shows, 12 years apart, marking the beginning and end of our heroes historic run! Still, we do love to Get The Led Out, so join me tonight at 8 on MGK, and get ready to disturb the neighbors! July 7th, 1968, The Yardbirds (featuring Jimmy Page) did their last show, before breaking up. Initial attempts at an all-star band to be The New Yardbirds were not successful, and Page eventually rounded up Plant, Bonzo and JPJ for their legendary run as Zeppelin. Fast forward to July 7th, 1980, for the final LZ concert in Berlin, Germany. The guys sure as hell didnt plan on that being their last show, but John Bonhams death, just over 2 months later, derailed the planned U.S. tour, and all future plans for the band.
