Ray Rice vs TMZ vs The People: Let me be clear that in no way do I condone violence of any kind especially domestic violence. With that being said let examine the footage and what we also know. Both were drunk and played a part in this situation. Being intoxicated or high does not in anyway excuse you from your actions. But lets think for a second and ask is it possible these acts of violence may not have happened if they were both thinking with a clear head? Maybe, maybe not! We dont know but it does make a difference in how we react and respond to thing. We do know what we saw. She hit him and he hit her back. She lunged at him as he backed up and he knocked her out. What makes things worst is we watched him (drunk) trying to move a unconscious (drunk) woman. None of that looks right at all. After the punishment was handed down from the NFL which lead to a tougher penalty that will be enforced upon future incidents as well as Rices numerous apology (he even said he would not had argued against a longer suspension) we now have TMZ showing the video. As much as we place the blame on Rice in which he took ownership we now are subjected to the actual video. How embarrassing must it be for Mrs. Rice to be shown intoxicated, knocked out, dragged and dropped as she was for the entire world to see? Mind you she married Ray after the incident and from what I understand she even admitted to her role in this incident. Yet, TMZ released the video at the beginning of the NFL season. Its safe to say its all about the ratings. TMZ doesnt care about ending domestic abuse cause chasing train wrecks is how thy make money. The more eyes on their product the more advertisers they get. Which means more money for them. Now how come The People havent turned on TMZ for using this horrible incident to make money? Yet the people turn on Rice way after the fact. How many people still love Rihanna and Chris Brown? We all know they both have a history of domestic violence. Have The People stopped buying their music or attending their concerts? Nope!! Cause we are entertained. I wonder if Rice would have ran for 200 yards yesterday am the Ravens had won would people be calling for him to be fired still. Bottom line Rice made a mistake that he has to live with. He will have to live with this disgraces for the rest of his life as well as his wife. TMZ and other media sources love train wrecks cause it generates money. They are probably waiting for the next athlete to beat his girlfriend or boyfriend up. And The People will either celebrate and or chastise them. But how about we all take a moment to learn from this and teach. Most importantly let us learn to forgive and ask forgiveness cause none of us are perfect. Peace.
