Ray Rickman, President and Founder of Swim Empowerment, would like to cordially invite you to the official unveiling of The Swim Empowerment Report on Thursday, October 17 8:30-9:30am. Ray Rickman and Project Director Dylan Molho will be presenting their research in The Rhode Island Room at The Rhode Island Foundation on 1 Union Street Providence, RI 02903. Our report, titled "Removing Barriers to Swimming Proficiency in the Rhode Island African American Community" thoroughly identifies the causes that lead the nation-wide swimming disparity, and how these causes can be combated. As some of you may know, 70% of African Americans do not know how to swim, and African American youth are more than three times as likely to die from drowning than their white peers. Swim Empowerment is working hard to create a state-wide Learn-to-Swim program to address this tragic reality and create a culture in which swimming is seen as a necessary life-skill, as well as a fun outlet for exercise and play. Please come to learn more about this problem, how we are going to solve it, and how you can help us in our efforts. If you wish to attend, RSVP to Dylan Molho at 401-421-0606 or email us at swimempowerment@gmail. Thank you.
