Raymond Arroyo interviews Cardinal Tagle, the Archbishop of Manila - TopicsExpress

Raymond Arroyo interviews Cardinal Tagle, the Archbishop of Manila in the Philippines. Cardinal Tagle most likely received some votes in the last conclave, speaks English really well and spent 6 years in the US getting his doctorate at Catholic University. I did not know there are 7,000 Priests for 85,000,000 Catholics in the Philippines! Yikes! The interview is interesting because Arroyo pointedly asks Cardinal Tagle if he is open to admitting divorced and remarried Catholics to communion. Cardinal Tagle shows some confusion at this question at which point Arroyo tells him that John Allen (of Cruxnow) wrote that Tagle would be open to this proposal. Cardinal Tagle very nicely tells Arroyo that he never said that and went on to explain what he actually said. He reaffirms Church teaching on the issue. He also says that the issue is somewhat meaningless to him as they dont allow divorce in the Philippines. This is one reason why I find John Allen to be a largely unreliable reporter of things Catholic. He has too many credibility issues and is too taken with reporting things from the hard left. The whole interview with Cardinal Tagle is interesting. You should watch it. He might be the next Pope.
