Raymond Chandler to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Best known for creating tough-talking private eye Philip Marlowe, Chandler was nominated for Oscars in 1945 and 1947 and was considered a creative force behind what was to become “film noir.” Several of his detective novels, including “The Big Sleep, “Farewell, My Lovely” and “The Long Goodbye,” were adapted for the big screen. Says Philip Marlowe: “Hollywood is the kind of town where they stick a knife in your back and then have you arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.”
