Raymond Warren, 75, of Beckley, formerly of Rhodell, died Friday, May 24, 2002, in a Beckley area hospital following a long illness. Born March 27, 1927, in White Star, Ky., he was the son of the late Chester and Mary E. Gamble Warren. Mr. Warren was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA Local No. 9871 District 17. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Warren served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Willie and Leroy Warren; and two sisters, Nellie Cadle and Alliefair Johns. Survivors include his wife, Joyce E. Lilly Warren; three daughters, Alisa Rhodes and husband, Harry, of Coal City, Kimberly Michele Shumate and husband, Ivan, of Coal City and Lori Warren of Parkersburg; two stepsons, Clarence John Danley Jr. and wife, Terry, of Lewisburg and William Ed Stanley and wife, Rowena, of Guam; two stepdaughters, Sue Danley Blankenship and husband, Harold, of Bativia, Ill., and Judy Danley Wall and husband, Larry, of Beckley; a sister, Lizzie Johns of Baltimore, Md.; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Williams-Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Sophia, with Melvin Jamison and Gary Eskins officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Williams-Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Sophia.
