Raytown Charter Commission met last night. 4 members were absent Susan Dolan, Greg Walters, Jim Aziere and Mike McDonough. The Missouri Municipal League gave a presentation on preparing a charter. The committee made some decisions on procedures, ie the chair has to acknowledge you to speak to avoid talking over each other. The commission decided to let public comment at the beginning of their meetings and each person will get 3 minutes to speak. They decided to adopt the MML outline for a charter to begin their work. They will begin with the first two sections. You can find the model outline at c.ymcdn/sites/mocities/resource/resmgr/publications/modelchartertb.pdf. They determined that their meetings would not go past 9 p.m. They decided to have only four people as points of contact with the city staff in order to be more efficient. Those four people are Steve Guenther, Lisa Emerson, Jason Greene and Mary Ann VanBuskirk. Mark Moore was elected treasurer. They are also setting up a website for information pertaining only to the commissions work. They will work with the city to try and have their meetings in a less formal arrangement. The meeting was taped by Michael Downing at raytownonline, runs on channel 7, and will be on the citys YouTube site as soon as the tape is available. Their next meeting is May 27 in Council Chambers of City Hall.
