Re-Elect Mayor Pro Tem Jeffrey Lalloway for Irvine City Council For Immediate Release: August 5, 2014 Contact: Al Tello (949) 300 - 3801 MAYOR PRO TEM JEFFREY LALLOWAY ANNOUNCES BID FOR RE-ELECTION Irvine, California – Jeffrey Lalloway, Irvine Mayor Pro Tem, today announced that he will be seeking a second term on the Irvine City Council. When I ran for City Council in 2010, I ran on a platform of restoring accountability and fiscal responsibility to our city government,” said Lalloway. “With the election of a new council majority in 2012 we have accomplished these goals. I am committed to ensuring that we continue Irvine’s traditions of great schools, safe streets, superior housing, neighborhood parks, open space, and a community-friendly vision for the future.” In seeking a second term, Lalloway cited a number of key accomplishments: · Irvine continues to be rated by the FBI as one of the safest cities in America. · As a Board Member of the Irvine Educational Partnership Fund, has overseen the distribution of over $9.2 million towards Irvine’s public schools. · Voted for a balanced budget with strong reserves for the last two years. · Cast a vote for a plan to pay down unfunded employee pension liabilities equaling tens of millions of dollars without raising taxes. · Voted to lower dozens of city fees, with savings to fee-payers of over $800,000 annually. · As Chair of the Great Park Board voted to finally build out large portions of the Great Park with many public amenities. · Refused the car allowance and healthcare insurance offered to councilmembers. Used no taxpayer funds for travel/personal expenses. In launching his re-election campaign, Lalloway announced the endorsements of Congressman John Campbell, Assemblyman Don Wagner, District Attorney Tony Rackauckas, Supervisor Todd Spitzer, Mayor Steven Choi, Councilmember Christina Shea and Irvine Unified School District Trustee Michael Parham. Jeff Lalloway has been a leader on the city council, working hard to make sure Irvine maintains its status as the safest city in America, and that we maintain our suburban community,” said Irvine Mayor Steven Choi. “I urge all Irvine residents to re-elect Jeff this November.” Councilwoman Christina Shea had this to say about Lalloway’s re-election effort, “Irvine voters should feel very comfortable re-electing Jeff Lalloway. He is committed to maintaining Irvine’s quality of life, as a suburban, family friendly community.” In endorsing Lalloway, Irvine Unified School District Trustee Michael Parham said, “Jeffrey Lalloway is committed to maintaining the excellent public schools that are a hallmark of our Irvine community. I wholeheartedly endorse his re-election.” Fundraising for Lalloway’s re-election campaign will kick off with fundraising event at the Lakeview Senior Center in the Mike Ward Community Park, in the village of Woodbridge at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10. Lalloway is Chairman of the Irvine Educational Partnership Fund, serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Orange County Transportation Authority, and is on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Orange County Fire Authority. An attorney and businessman, Lalloway, 52, lives with his wife, Laura, and their two children Regan and Sydney in the Sheridan Place neighborhood of Irvine. The election for two Irvine City Council seats, as well as Mayor, will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014.
