Re: I ignore my kids So I ignored my kids the other day. I was tired when I picked them up after work. I let them watch shows on the iPad. I felt vaguely guilty about it, but not guilty enough, and I started playing the piano to relax. I did it for myself, not for them. But then I exhausted my favorite playlist and my anxious energy. The kids got tired of their shows, and they came over to the piano. I taught Ada the names of the keys, how the notes repeat across the octaves, and how to place her hands on the keys to play more easily. It was the first time shed ever shown an interest in the piano. And then we went upstairs. They took a bath, and Ada started asking about the names of things in French. The bath tub. Her hair. The book she wanted to read. And we ended up having a great night together happening upon all those things we stress over fitting in, all because I took some time to breathe.
