Re: PDP candidate promises to increase minimum wage – by Amina Yakubu I recently heard the PDP candidate in Nasarawa State claiming he would increase the minimum wage currently being paid to Nasarawa state workers. A campaign promise I strongly believe there is no missing gap to fill! First, I would like someone to inform Mr. Agabi that the state civil servants do not receive N18,000 as the minimum wage but rather receive N18,900 which is far above the federal government approved National Minimum wage. This further shows his depth of ignorance on matters that concerns the state he is aspiring to govern. I am also aware that His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura has made Nasarawa Civil Servants the envy of their peers in the north central zone and indeed the other parts of Nigeria by being one of the pioneer states to receive the salaries as far back as 2011. It is also important to put on record that the state since 2011 has enjoyed uninterrupted timely salaries paid before the end of the month. This also applies to the months when the Federal Allocations to Nasarawa State were delayed. If it is recalled that with an average monthly allocation of 2.5 billion, the state ranks very low in the federal revenue allocation table. From records shared by the current administration, I am made to understand that with the implementation of the current N18,900.00 minimum wage, the salary bill increased by 140% as 2.1 billion is paid monthly. Mr. Agabi please tell the civil servants of the State and the State electorates how you will do that magic? It should be something different from the internal revenue generation strategies already put in place by this administration which Agabi has refused to contribute, because I learnt that he has not registered his landed properties with the Ministry of Land and Urban Development. Means Agabi does not have C-of-O papers for his choice properties scattered in all the nooks and crannies of Lafia and the state in general. Pays no tenement fees. How can he tell others to pay when he becomes the Governor? Allah ya ki yaye! Allah ya ki yaye!! Allah ya ki yaye!! We have all seen and heard what is happening in the PDP controlled states in the country Recently at the presidential rally in Lafia, Benue state personalities commended Gov. Almakura for his prompt regular payments to workers lamenting that they wished they had his type. For the record no PDP state pays minimum wage!!! Oga magician, please tell the people how you will do this? Nasarawa does not need to go back to the dark days. Please keep your lies to yourself. Seeing is believing!!! Taal is working ,Nasarawa is changing!! Taal is the answer!!!
