Re: Tega Emmanuel post tagged on my fb - APC and Buhari!!! It is healthy to read the argument from other side, i.e. from GEJ supporters. I have nothing against tagging me in such healthy debate. But when debate is not on issues but propaganda that I think is not healthy. Instead of attacking APC and Buhari in particular, use your energy positively to showcase why we should vote for GEJ. Show to the readers what GEJs achievements are on corruption, health care, education, security, infrastructure, etc. That is how you can win people like me to your side and I guess many elites as well. The Yorubas you are accusing now voted overwhelming for Jonathan in 2011 and he got a reasonable proportion of vote across northern state even though Buhari got nothing from South-South and South-East. When GEJ was treated badly by late Yaradua’s inner circle Yorubas are in the forefront of making him the Commander in Chief. And when we talk about tolerance GEJ supporters often accuse the north of intolerance and there is never a time that a northern candidate got over 99% casted votes in one election in any northern state. I beg to call your attention to the result of 2011 election in South-South and South-East. You often referred to Buhari religious intolerance, could you please cite one example of such intolerance either in the course of his duties, when he was the head of state or during his retirement? Look at the record and the religious affiliation of people that served under him as Head of State. Nigerians are getting wiser nowadays and are now realizing that mind games of the past cannot work again. OBJ was the president for 8 years...right? Tell me how he impacted on the lives of Yorubas or Christians? The same with Yaradu’a and IBB on Muslims and the northerners. The argument that north thinks leadership of the nation is their birthright is not working again as well. Amaechi narrated what the northerners did for his people which are far beyond what the southerners did. The game changer now is who can do it not where he/she comes from or what religion he /she practices. If religion is important as often as we pretend, do you think the state of our nation will be hopeless today with the number of churches and mosques across the nation? Who among them is religious per se? I am not insinuating that Buhari is a saint but in terms of integrity and hope of performance he stands taller than GEJ. I do not know how you can convince people when the president GEJ himself accepted that things are getting worst and he will JUST design a way to fight corruption after 6 years. At least if he cannot improve on our lives he should have maintained the standard. It is good to remind you that during this 6 years of GEJ presidency, price of crude were at its peak; and he was unable to improve or maintain the standard. What of when the crude has dropped significantly? I will leave that for the readers to ponder on. Let us pls. discuss the key issues about how to move the nation forward instead of pettiness. The good thing about GEJ and Buhari is that they both have had opportunities to rule the nation. Let us look at their records and also what they intend to do for the nation. That is where I think the debate lies not propaganda based on sentiments. Wishing you a blissful new year and a pleasant weekend.
