Re: not paying water bills- you have legal recourse! You can file a complaint with the WV Attorney General. WVAW is not fulfilling their end of your service contract and is charging for something they are not providing. Contact WVAW first, document your conversation, lack of response, or whatever you are told. They are obligated to provide clean water and they havent. If they give you the 1ppm story, tell them that the 1ppm is a value that was calculated on only one of the seven known components of the spill. Until the CDC recalculates the safety factor of ALL the known chemicals- including EVERY component -AND they are tested for AND are non detectable in your HOME, you are not receiving the product you contracted for. If they do NOT agree to credit your bill for the charges from Jan 9th until further notice (when the water in your home is safe) Ask them Will you please note my account? I am filing a complaint with the Public Service Commission and the States Attorney General in this matter. (Contacting WVAW is an important step- you need to contact WVAW first before filing. Its part of the Consumer Protection process. You ask for a remedy, they deny, you file a complaint) Start with this step, I will post the other details shortly. In the meantime, you will need copies of all your bills and payments made for all usage from at least Jan 9th (day of declared emergency) forward. If it can be proved that the water in your home was contaminated from this spill prior to this date, you MAY have legal recourse for that at a later date. Gather all your documents now. Take pictures and videos! Date all documents. Take pictures/videos of medical problems- mention these in all your complaints. Be specific. Get and keep a detailed notebook. Update your notebook DAILY with details of ALL water related problems.
