Re-posting from Tikatia Morris: I homeschool my kids, and - TopicsExpress

Re-posting from Tikatia Morris: I homeschool my kids, and theyve been actively involved in theatre activities at the Playhouse for almost 3 years now. I was thinking this morning about how, in addition to things like confidence, public speaking, memory skills, exposure to culture, music, art etc, that participating in theatre has given my children a unique exposure to history. Being involved in last years production of Big River exposed them to a real life view of slavery and racism in America. Frankenstein opened conversations about the belief in God and the power to create life, Of Mice and Men, To Kill a Mockingbird and more, our kids are learning so much by engaging in theatre! And now, with opening night of Brundibar only days away, my kids are reading everything that they can about the holocaust and discussing racism and hate in a new way. Thank you Winni Playhouse for your commitment to providing thought provoking, quality theatre to the Lakes Region!
