Re: raising the minimum wage: Wages are not a marker of character, and the minimum wage should not be wielded as a punishment. The stereotype of the minimum wage being for people who have failed at success is, and always has been, a myth. The minimum wage exists because employers would love to pay less, but they were literally stopped by the government from paying desperate employees just enough to starve. That the minimum wage has been turned into a referendum on the characters of those who *receive* it and not on the characters of employers who think that you should not be able to buy a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread for what you make in an hour is nothing short of astonishing.
