Re-watched some bits of #SNL... They dont have a diversity problem. They have a creativity problem. Nasim Perdrad played a motivational speaker. What made her funny? A funny accent, she was from Yemen...and owns a HONDA PRELUDE!!! (p.s. Pedrad is of Persian descent). Oh. Hah. Hah. Do you remember Chris Farleys motivational speaker? He lived in a van, down by the river...thats what made it funny. As for the characters Kerry played, most were just a bunch of stereotypes, but she can do comedy. It was just wasted. A lot of the talent is wasted on SNL lately because its not funny. Its 36 years old and trying way too hard. SNL doesnt have a race problem...or a woman problem... they have a leadership problem. #LorneMichaels doesnt know what funny is any more. This show is a great example of why true leaders know that they must adapt, diversify, and not think that theyre the only ones with the answers. Theres no point in asking SNL to cast #IssaRae, or #AzieDungey, or #AmaniStarnes or #FranchescaRamsey to be a part of the cast...why would we want to see truly funny people be cast in something so mediocre? Let Keenan play all the Black women... he doesnt know how to be funny otherwise... If the show was as amazing as it pretends to be, why would Tina, or Amy, or Maya ever leave? Why is Seth Myers leaving? Why did Will leave? Because ultimately, bad leadership stifles creativity... and Lorne Michaels is a bad leader. Support funny in other ways. SNL is no longer the holy grail for good comedy...just mediocre comedy.
