Reached Tacloban city from Manilla this morning. This beautiful city of Tacloban was ravaged by Yolanda typhoon last year which took almost ten thousand lives away and left many many more homeless. Thanks to the resilient spirit of the Philippino people and that of several organizations such as the National Council of Churches in the Philippines, Tacloban is getting back to normal life. It is in this poignant backdrop that we as the Ecumenical Bishops Forum is meeting here in Tacloban. Looking forward to some challenging time of reflection and encounters. ..the pictures here show how picturesque this lovely place is. However I hope to post some pictures that will also show the other side of life here...that of man-made disasters of destruction of human and natural life...
