Reacting according to God’s word Every day, we are faced with making decisions. Decisions on how to respond to life’s circumstances. Do you react according to God’s Word or do you react emotionally? For instance, how will you react when someone just splashes water on you best clothes and drives off without even saying sorry? How will you react when a junior staff mistakenly splashes some coffee on your important document? How will you react when you hear that someone you love so much has betrayed you? Reacting emotionally is always the first thing that always wants to come out of you but it should not be allowed. We must learn to operate on what the word says and not our emotions. Jesus said in John 20:21 “….as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.” What will Jesus do if he were faced with the same circumstance? Ask yourself this question before you react. Reacting emotionally to a challenge does not produce any result and does not change the situation. By acting on God’s Word and not merely reacting to the situation will enable you manage your emotions instead of allowing them to manage you. It is also important for you to remember what the word of God says in Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” That simply means that everything will work for your good.
