Reacting to the statement of People’s Democratic Party (PDP)s Muzaffar Hussain Beigh that the resistance leadership should forget the Kashmir issue and join hands with pro-India parties for helping the flood ravaged Kashmiris, the Hurriyat Conference (G) today termed it childish and ridiculous. “The Kashmir dispute is the issue of 13 million people and all the difficulties and miseries that the Kashmiris are facing are due to this long pending issue. The pro-freedom people don’t need any advice from Beigh for helping the flood hit people. They are already in that business from the very first day of floods while the people like Muzaffar Beigh went missing with the floods. Now when the floods are over, Beigh is appearing and issuing such a statement to gain the political mileage,” said the Hurriyat spokesman in a statement today, terming Muzaffar Beigh a ‘self-centered and selfish politician’. “The lust of power has placed veil over the eyes of Beigh like people and that is why besides being a highly educated, they are openly denying the Himalayan truth of the Kashmir and also advising the others to do the same,” said the spokesman. “People were expressing their freedom sentiments even when the disastrous waters were at their feet,” he added. “During the last six decades, the Indian rulers and their local paid agents tried their best to divert the minds of the people from the Kashmir issue and motivate them to compromise with the Indian forcible control but those people are nowhere and the Kashmir issue is still alive and in a better position,” said the spokesman. “The Beigh like people from the tribe of Mir Jaffar and Mir Qasim issue such statements to get the salaries and other benefits but the conscious people will always raise the freedom slogans in whatever condition and in whatever state they are,” the spokesman said.
