Read Daniels story.... On Oct. 3, I was put into a gas chamber in Florence, Alabama along with 17 other stray dogs. Carbon monoxide was pumped into the chamber. When officials returned later and opened the door, I walked out. I was dubbed a “Miracle Dog,” weighs about 20 pounds. I was set for a new life in New Jersey, courtesy of Eleventh Hour Rescue. The group is dedicated to saving pooches from death row in high-kill shelters. Once I was gifted my life back, I met some very nice people. They all treated me so well and showered me with love. I did want to know if I would end up in a forever home. My foster parents, arranged for me to meet and greet a family in Nutley, New Jersey. I had never heard of this town since I was new to the area. Our first meeting was on October 30, 2011 after a significant snowstorm. The first dog I met was Spartacus. He was part Beagle like me, but as they say in dog training, quite an alpha personality. Shelby, a Pit Bull, who I heard was a great therapy dog also came out for a walk with me. Everything went well so we went in the house to meet Rommel and Greta, two Dachshunds. We decided to meet again on Monday, November 7, 2011 and the five of us got along even better than the first visit. I thought I heard Jill tell that nice bald guy that she felt this would be a nice home for me. On November 10, 2011 I arrived at my forever home with the Dwyers. My dad, Joe, and my mom, Geralynn have always loved dogs and they made me feel so comfortable. My dad told me that we were going to spend a few days just as a family getting to know each other. I had dinner, played in the back yard with my new canine siblings and laid down on a big comfortable pillow. My brother, Spartacus, laid down right next to me. I heard my dad say how happy he was about this. I was also very content. My human sister, Jenna has also been great. She tells me often how much she loves me and I get a lot of kisses. As most people know, I also love to give kisses! I also have a human brother, Joe. He comes and visits me and the other dogs. We love to see him. Every dog needs to have a forever home like I do. We can bring such love and joy to a household and in so many ways, we complete a family. I hear my dad talk about doing what he can to make this a reality. I will go along with him any where he wants to go and tell my story as long as I come back to this awesome place I now call home!
