Read Matthew 25:1 through 26:75 “‘So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’ His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed?’” (Matthew 25:25–26). When the ungrateful servant expressed his fear of the master, he revealed the spirit of a slave, not a trusting servant. Because of this frame of mind, the servant could have also negatively judged his fellow servants, who had successfully invested the gold entrusted to them. Fear creates excuses for laziness and grumbling. Fearful people claim that they do not have the opportunities to serve God that others have. Nothing is more unworthy, or hinders our duty to God, like fear. God has given us each different skills, opportunities and spiritual gifts that He wants us to use. We should take time today to examine ourselves to see if we are using what God has given us, or if we are following in the footsteps of the lazy servant. Challenge for Today: Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God
