Read Queer People of Color Collectives letter condemning SDSU Pride Center for intentionally not inviting SJP to SDSUs flag raising ceremony: SDSU, Racism Starts Here! One of our new slogans. If you need supporting evidiance why, read the following email that was sent out to administration: We heard disturbing news, concerning Students for Justice in Palestine, that they were not invited to the LGBT Flag Raising Ceremony at SDSU. This is especially concerning since I just spoke to the president of Aztecs for Israel and they informed me that they were officially sent an email invitation to attend the event. I had it verified that SJP was intentionally not sent an invitation. You all know my politics surrounding the Palestine/Israeli conflict. This message is in no connection to my political stance. Both Aztecs for Israel and Students for Justice have openly expressed their support for the queer community and both student organizations deserved to have been invited to this campus community event. I dont need to mention the issues with this intentional act, but I will.... (Islamaphobia, racism, classism, capitalism, colonization, etc.) SDSUs LGBT Flag Raising Ceremony is not an event to further ones career and tap into the support and pocketbooks of the affluential. We should be attempting to bring the campus community together to celebrate our progress and discuss areas where we can all improve. I dont know how SDSU can fix this intentional prejudice, but we can start by sending an official invitation to Students for Justice in Palestine along with an apology. Thank you QPOCC for the relentless solidarity! We will be at the flag raising ceremony, invited or not, to show our solidarity with our Queer siblings all over the world, especially those who are doubly-triply-quadrupely suffering under homophobia AND racism AND imperialism AND classism AND capitalism.
