Read Stephen Lewis CBC Massey Lecture on Africa, Race Against Time- the financial realities he talks about in there are incredibly apprehensive- due esp. to the coincidence that almost everything saddled on African nations through conditionality loan agreements, are almost the exact same rhetoric which our governments are throwing at us- Debt, Crippling interest on that debt, Deficit, Austerity, Selling of Public Trusts, destruction of public sectors and unions, and user fees for health and eduction, water etc. All peddled as requirements of receiving money from other countries and international banking. What were being asked to accept in their conduct are features that have been chaining Africa for decades- not saying to the same extent, not saying itll happen, but the similarities are staggering. If ever there were a reason to do something about our present and our future- its to start asking why those who claim to lead us here in Canada are using language which derives itself from the Global Response Model used in Africa
