Read a comment that sounds funny but is also true. Once we open - TopicsExpress

Read a comment that sounds funny but is also true. Once we open up to Cuba, we will import their cigars and they will import Type 2 diabetes. Google Images also confirms that Cubans are generally not obese. Cuba follows a ration system. A Washington Post columnist followed a diet similar to cuban ration system. She lost 9 Lbs in a month and only spent $17 for food in a month. Cuban ration per month per person (From wikipedia) Rice 6 pounds Beans 20 ounces White sugar 3 pounds Dark sugar 3 pounds Milk (only children under 7 years) 1 liter a day Eggs 12 Potatoes/bananas 15 pounds Meat products are distributed separately, if available, following a different rationale. These are distributed every 15 days, and usually rotate (that is, the product type changes on each delivery). Fish, beef, ground beef (usually mixed with soy), chicken, sausages and ham fall in this category. Quantities, and prices, differ for each meat product (beef, ½ lb/person each 15 days, whereas chicken is 1 lb/person every 15 days). Maybe somebody will soon launch a Cuban diet? washingtonpost/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/07/02/AR2007070201103.html
