Read my last post and you will understand this one. Some one said to me I always crying for Foreigners. And I provided the following response. thats because in this globalised world, frankly it is foolish to be creating unproductive local champions who will only suffer higher domestic taxes, dum so dum so , higher interest rates and highly priced wares. We did this uneconomic and myopic policy in the 60s and we know what we got. Brazil and India did same, breaking patents and dampening property rights and lost significant foreign investment. When they changed, they got loads of FDI and today they are bastions of foreign investment. Massa take a good look at economic data from the UNDP and let us stop this mockery of emotional economics of creating local champions by all means crooked for Ghanaians to buy in the name of patriotism when their earnings are lower. I will love immigrants anyday. There are 2.7m non-British residents in London alone speaking 270 languages. Has the UK and London been better off? There are many Ghanaians in the UK, Germany, Canada and the USA. Have those countries suffered any losses? Of course there are dimwits and xenophobics in those countries that hate immigrants but you and I know how much foreign remittances are coming home, more than the stupid forex rules could ever dream of and all the money our leaders continue to beg from taxpayers abroad. Now go on, look for the book Immigrants:Your Country Needs Them by Philippe Legrain. These are a few reviews of the book. Mr. Legrain performs an invaluable service; he makes a good case for the unpopular cause of free flows of people. The book is a superb combination of direct reportage with detailed analysis of the evidence.--Martin Wolf, Financial Times Mr. Legrain has assembled powerful evidence to undermine the economic arguments against immigration.--Economist In all important respects Legrain is right on target…. In the context of the fearful chatter that surrounds the subject, sense as good as this needs cherishing.--Guardian. I HAVE A COPY IF YOU CANNOT BUY ON THE INTERNET, WHICH ITSELF IS A PRODUCT OF GLOBALISATION.
