Read on a FB thread today where someone said, and Im paraphrasing, that as Christians we are not to associate, be around, or befriend sinners, but be separated. When I responded with the notion that apparently Jesus didnt read his post, because Jesus was a friend of sinners and that while we were still sinners Christ died for us, he proceeds to make the statement, that the Pharisees accused Jesus of hanging around sinners, but that Jesus didnt have anyone sinning around Him at any point. So apparently, With that reasoning, Jesus never saw firsthand any sinner commit a sin. I submit that being in this world but not of it is an act of separation, not isolation. Being a friend of sinners does not entail actively engaging in that sin with them. Let us also remember, that we were such sinners, and today we are merely saved by Grace as a result of Christs redemptive and eternal finished work on Calvarys Cross.
